Description

As our children prepare to return to school, James C. Metzger of The Whitmore Agency and Bruderman Asset Management Chairman Matthew J. Bruderman are assisting teachers with reading materials that allow children to expand their horizons while improving their reading and vocabulary skills. The Long Island business leaders have provided a significant monetary donation to The Book Fairies as part of a three-year pledge. A Freeport-based organization founded during 2012 by Amy Zaslansky, The Book Fairies supports teachers who spend their personal money to purchase books for students without home libraries. The organization collects reading materials for people in need throughout metropolitan New York. According to The Book Fairies, reading materials foster literacy and academic success, provide a respite from personal struggles and nurture a love of reading across age groups. Metzger and Bruderman recently spoke with the Long Island Press about their collaboration with The Book Fairies and the importance of supporting programs that assist students and others throughout the greater New York City area.
