We are currently in search of a full time Assistant Herd Manager here at von Trapp Farm. We are looking for the best possible candidate to be part of our organic milk production team. Our milk production team is responsible for harvesting the beautiful milk that goes into our award winning farmstead cheeses and yogurt. Assistant herd manager responsibilities include: morning and/or evening milking shifts maintaining/cleaning milking machines/systems and equipment building fences pasture management tractor/field work year round firewood processing harvesting hay for winter possible AI work record keeping as well as other various farm jobs We are looking for an honest, hard working, reliable individual to join our team. Positive attitude a must. Milking experience preferred, but not required. Ability to lift 50+ lbs regularly. A willingness to learn is essential. Farm tractor experience preferred. Chainsaw experience preferred. Must like working with dairy cows. Must enjoy working outdoors. Early mornings and flexibility on weekend scheduling required. Must be willing to reside locally Competitive wages The cows don't stop making milk, so everyone here has to be willing to work a weekend day. We offer two consecutive days off in a row and we do our best to give everyone some holidays off but a willingness to work others is necessary.
