General Responsibilities • Perform field and/or laboratory testing, observation, and inspection of construction materials (e.g. soils, aggregates, concrete, asphalt, and steel). • Communicate with project manager, engineering technicians, client representative, contractor’s representative and others as applicable regarding the construction site, project requirements, and testing, observation, and inspection requirements and results. • Transport material samples with associated identifying documentation to the laboratory for further testing and analysis. • Tabulate, prepare, and submit data and observation in the form of written and digital reports as work is performed for daily transmittal to the CSI Geo Project Manager. • Maintain and clean equipment, vehicles and work areas. • Adhere to strict safety standards. Specifically, conduct laboratory and field testing to determine the engineering properties of soils, aggregates, rock, concrete, soil cement, concrete aggregate, and asphalt aggregate. Testing is conducted in accordance with ASTM, ACI, and USCS soil classifications standards. Essential Role and Responsibilities • Under close supervision of higher level technicians or staff professionals, assist on material testing tasks and perform basic testing and observations duties. • Provide clear documentation of findings and results. • Communicate information to Project Manager and discuss accuracy of data in preparation for submittal. • Will be placed in a progressively increased role of training and responsibility in work assignments. • Maintain assigned equipment. • Follow safety rules and practices and other safety requirements for all projects. Perform pre-task planning prior to executing work. Report any safety issues or concerns to management. • Be responsible for maintaining quality standards on all projects. Job Requirements • High school diploma or equivalent • Valid driver’s license with acceptable violation history • Obtain ACI and CTQP certifications within 6-12 months of hire (company provided). • ACI Concrete Field Certification Level 1 • ACI Concrete Strength Testing Technician • CTQP Concrete Laboratory Technician • CTQP Concrete Field Technician • ACI Aggregate Base Testing Technician • CTQP Earthwork Construction Inspection - Level 1 & 2 • Portable Nuclear Gauge Safety & US DOT HAZMAT Certification • Experience with using smart phone tools for web browsing and emails. • Ability to read construction plans • Excellent math skills Our salary and benefits are competitive with industry standards.
