Description

Reforming a classic rock/private events band. Desired line up will comprise of keys (I play keys, rhythm guitar and saxophones as well as handle some lead and backing vocals), 2 guitarists to share lead and rhythm duties, a drummer and a bassist who will all handle some lead and backing vocals as well. The objective is to allow everyone a turn in the spotlight. There are no "stars" or "solo acts" here. Everyone must pull the rope together and in unison. Please understand that front persons or "harp only" players are not desired, but multi-talented musicians are. Regarding tunes for the band, nothing is excluded but everything is included, provided that it fits the criteria of being dance able and something which we can perform well. The planned repertoire is extensive and extremely diversified covering classic rock, blues, R&B, Motown, British Invasion, psychedelic, soul, ballads, etc. spanning from the surf era (1960's) to the 2000's. Think of the tunes played on WOGL (98.1) and WMGK (102.9). Please note that the categories do not include "thrash", "heavy metal", "doom", or "grunge". I generally provide the lead sheets (chord changes and lyrics) and often a MP3 of the tune for practice at home prior to the rehearsal where the tune is scheduled in advance to be worked on. "Practice" is the individual work done a home where the leads, riffs, and chord changes are worked out. "Rehearsals" are where everyone's parts are put together and smoothed into a finished product. Rehearsals are held at my residence in Warminster (lower Bucks County), where I have a complete backline, including a full drum set (mid-70's era Slingerland Sound King 5 piece chrome over maple shells), a goodly assortment of Zildjian cymbals, Latin Percussion instruments, roto toms, guitar amps, bass amp and PA in the 26' X 28' quasi-studio at my residence, which allows us to avoid the expense of renting a rehearsal studio and the lost time setting up and breaking down equipment for each rehearsal. Contact between band mates between rehearsals is encouraged to "iron out" any questions or concerns. If I am at home, the studio is generally available between sessions as well. Call me, come on over and let's play. As the Beatles sang "we can work it out!" Ask that you take a few minutes to check out some of the quasi-studio and live tracks from previous iterations of the band at www.facebook.com/thewreckerdsband. You will need to scroll down a bit to locate the tracks. Please take note of the dynamics and orchestration. Playing only in the basement or garage accomplishes nothing professionally or financially. Acquiring and maintaining the equipment is not a cheap undertaking. Please understand that it is my intention not to be limited to playing only bars. Playing local venues allows our friends to come to see and hear us play, and it polishes the act. The real money comes from playing private events, including weddings. $250 or better per person per private gig beats the daylights out of $40 or so from a gin mill where the bar owner constantly whines about the night's gross in an attempt to renegotiate the band's salary after the fact. I received my 2nd COVID inoculation on 3/10/21, so I am well clear. We will observe whatever COVID 19 protocols are in place at that time. Looking forward to having fun and making some great music!
