Description

Indy cover band looking for drummer, we are in our 50's (you don't have to be) not looking to "make it" just dig jamming and doing the occasional bar and party gig. Pre covid we rehearsed once a week in North Hollywood. Our drummer became too busy with other work, so here we are. Here is our bio so you can get the gist of what we are. Hard Knox and Durty Sox What happens when a band playing Stones covers morphs in ways unforeseen? Starting life as an unassuming jam among friends, Hard Knox and Durty Sox was all Stones, all the time. Even their name was an obscure reference to Keith Richard’s working title for Let it Bleed. Adding to the cannon, the band eventually worked tunes from Goats Head Soup into the set and rounded it out with some blues. It’s Only Rock n’ Roll and all, but something wasn’t right. Taking you by surprise, as if he just wandered in from the street and grabbed the mic, Singer, V’s grizzled blues is raw and punk rock as all hell. But with no moves (or voice) like Jagger, it put Hard Knox in a different universe than your average Stones cover band. Hell, he sounds like Tom Waits fronting the Stooges – all back-alley swagger but with genuine pathos… So…what to do? Answer - The mix tape you made for that cutie in third period you were too shy to ask out. You want to turn her on to the Stones to be sure, but also to Iggy, Lennon, Johnny Cash and Nina Simone. You’re hoping she’s into it and getting all the references, so you’re relieved to hear it blaring out of the blown speaker at the party you happily got invited to. Everybody’s dancing and now she’s taking you aside to ask about Howling Wolf AND The Velvet Underground. Mission accomplished. So how does this mismatch not descend into chaos? Take a classically trained pianist turned guitarist/metal head - Brian, together with KISS obsessed, Jaco loving, funkster bassist, Stephen. Add in Bowie fiend and serious blues aficionado, guitarist Edward and mix in one of the few good things to come out of a Craiglist ad - in the pocket drummer, Andy, all backing the ragged, mysterious V and you have Hard Knox and Durty Sox, an eclectic rock n’roll experience that lets you get your groove on, while always keeping you guessing what they’ll do next. Dig it.
