Description
Al Franken: The Only Former U.S. Senator Currently on Tour Tour Presented by DSP Shows ALL AGES Al Franken The former senator from MN is a 5 time Emmy winner for his work on SNL, the author of 4 NYT Best Sellers and hosts his own hit podcast. Due to the ongoing global health crisis and the high risk of the COVID-19 Delta variant, the Academy of Music Theatre will now require all attendees to provide proof of full vaccination for COVID-19 or a negative PCR test taken within the past 72 hours, a valid ID, and wear a mask inside the theater while not eating and drinking. Children under the age of 12, who can’t be vaccinated yet, may attend, but they must wear a mask at all times. Those patrons without masks may purchase one at the theater for a small fee. Current ticket holders who lack proof of vaccination or a negative PCR test may request a refund to their original payment method by September 3rd, 2021, two weeks from today's date. This difficult decision was made out of an abundance of caution and concern for the safety of all those involved. These safety measures will be in place until further notice. The Academy of Music encourages patrons to arrive a few minutes early to accommodate document checks. For further information, visit www.aomtheatre.com/health-and-safety or contact the Box Office at [email protected] or by calling 413.584.9032 x105. Al Franken As far as anyone knows, Al Franken is the only U.S. Senator who was also one of the original writers for Saturday Night Live. During his fifteen seasons with SNL, Franken won five Emmy’s for writing and producing. He’s also the author of four #1 New York Times bestsellers, including Rush Limbaugh is a Big Fat Idiot and Other Observations, Lies and the Lying Liars Who Tell Them – A Fair and Balanced Look at the Right, and Al Franken, Giant of the Senate. Franken served Minnesota in the Senate from 2009-2018, clobbering his first opponent, incumbent Senator Norm Coleman, by 312 votes. He won his second election by well over 200,000 votes. Franken served on the Judiciary, Energy, Indian Affairs, and HELP (Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions) Committees where he routinely embarrassed badly prepared witnesses and was a fierce opponent of media concentration, mandatory arbitration, and Betsy DeVos. The Al Franken Podcast is one of the nation’s top-ten politics and public affairs podcasts with guests like Malcolm Nance, Sarah Silverman, Paul Krugman, Chris Rock, and Michelle Obama. Well, not Michelle Obama, but guests like her. His political action committee, Midwest Values PAC, supports progressive Democrats, voting rights, and a host of other good, non-political things. Al and his wife, Franni, have been married for 45 years, many of them happy. They have two kids and four grandchildren. Al Franken
