Writing & Whiskey is a writing workshop led by Robin Sauerwein, a NE Mpls writer who has been teaching writing for more than 10 years. The writer Truman Capote wrote with a glass of sherry in one hand and a pencil in the other. Spend an afternoon with fellow writers enjoying a beverage of your choice while putting pen to paper in this fun workshop. Often times what stops us from writing is ideas or the permission to just play. In this 3-hour workshop, participants will write from a variety of fun prompts and have an opportunity to share their words in a safe and supportive environment. No critiquing is done so leave the red pen at home. This is about letting our words fall out as imperfect or unfinished as they may be. No experience or previous writing skills necessary only a desire to write and have fun doing it. What better place than a distillery. Celebrate the success of filling up those blank pages with new writing alongside other fellow writers. Writing for the fun of it. Sharing is optional. Writers will receive two beverages of their choice during this workshop led by creative writing teacher, Robin Sauerwein. The purpose of the workshop is to encourage you to write and to meet others interested in getting out of the house to write. Worshop will be set up according to the CDC guidelines and social distancing will be maintained. Come away with new writing and ideas to spur your writing further. In the words of Kurt Vonnegut: "Practicing an art, no matter how well or badly, is a way to make your soul grow, for heaven's sake. Sing in the shower. Dance to the radio. Tell stories. Write a poem, even a lousy poem. Do it as well as you possibly can. You will get an enormous reward. You will have created something." Let's create together!
