Description

Smoke DZA / Gat$aMania 2021 After a tumultuous year Tampa rap champion Gat$ returns with the third installment of his long awaited, wrestling themed namesake concert, GAT$AMANIA, this September 12th at Crowbar. After a back and forth and a year of suspense, announcing the headlining set of Smoke DZA vs. Gat$ at Gat$amania 3! Two incredible sets, two phenomenal emcees, one night only! September 12th at Crowbar in Tampa will be the stuff of legend. Rounding out the night will be the Mechanic, Scxtt Aye with new bars from around the way, Stef, the New Prince of the South, Her Royalty, Queen of Ex with an electric set and the Assassin, Jay Browne, the next to the throne. Brought to the public's attention through a series of raw, kush-loving mixtapes, Harlem rapper Smoke DZA got his start in Smoke & Numbers, a locally popular duo formed with a rapper named Numbers. DZA -- as in "Dream Zone Achieved" -- signed a deal in 2002 and joined Big K.R.I.T. behind the scenes at Cinematic Music Group, but when twin daughters were brought into his life in 2007, he adopted a "now or never" attitude when it came to his solo career. A slew of mixtapes with weed lingo names like Sweet Baby Kushed God and Substance Abuse followed, then in 2011, DZA's mixtape Rolling Stoned won High Times Magazine's Doobie Award for 2011's hip-hop album of the year. A year later, the magazine signed the rapper to its High Times label and released Rugby Thompson, an album produced in total by Harry Fraud. Rugby included appearances by Action Bronson, Curren$y, Domo Genesis, and ScHoolboy Q. DZA's third LP, Dream.Zone.Achieve, was released in 2014, and he issued a pair of LPs in 2016. He Has Risen arrived early in the year and featured an appearance by Snoop Dogg. Months later, he released Don't Smoke Rock, a collaborative effort with Pete Rock. The album included the single "Milestone," which featured BJ the Chicago Kid, Jadakiss, and Styles P. DZA followed with a series of collaborative singles, starting with 2017's "How Many?" with Statik Selektah, Young Roddy, and Trademark Da Skydiver, and 2018's "The Mood" with Joey Bada$$ and "Moves" with Delivery Boys. In 2019, he paired with Benny the Butcher for the Pete Rock-produced EP Statue of Limitations, which featured guest appearances by Conway the Machine, Styles P, and Westside Gunn. The full-length A Closed Mouth Don't Get Fed arrived in February 2020 and included guest spots by T-Pain, Wale, Dave East, and others. Another full-length, Homegrown, followed that October and included the track "Santos Party House," featuring Wiz Khalifa, Big K.R.I.T., and Curren$y. ~ David Jeffries & Neil Z. Yeung, Rovi With all this anticipation building, this will be the event you can’t miss. You know the vibes! Doors open at 6pm! The show will bleed into the infamous Ol Dirty Sundays party featuring DJ Casper. Powered by DROP CITY COLLECTIVE Fueled by our passionate inquiry, FWDThinkers began to sprout.
