NAPERVILLE, IL — Two people were injured in a Sunday afternoon shooting in Naperville, police in the city have said. The victims were shot when meeting with a third person to make a "transaction," according to an NBC-Chicago report.
The shooter fled the area of the 600 block of Amerisale Drive, near North Aurora Road, in a car after wounding the victims, Naperville police said on Facebook. The shots were fired around 2:11 p.m., NBC reported.
Police "do not believe there is an active threat to the area at this time, as the initial investigation indicates this was a targeted act," the Naperville Police Department posted on Facebook.
NBC reported the people involved all agreed to make a "transaction" at the site of the shooting on Amerisale Drive. The shooter is in his 20s and fled in a dark-colored sedan, the report states.
Naperville police Commander Michaus Williams told Patch the shooting was still a "fresh and active investigation" around 5 p.m.
