Shooting On Hickory Street: Joliet Police Make Arrest

JOLIET, IL — A 27-year-old man from Freeport was arrested by Joliet police detectives in connection with the Aug. 19 shooting that left a 23-year-old Joliet man with serious injuries in the unit block of North Hickory Street. Joliet police announced that Charles D. Young Jr. faces two counts of armed robbery and one count of unlawful possession of a weapon by a convicted felon. Bail for Young has been set at $501,000, Will County Jail records show. Joliet police learned of the Hickory Street shooting around 7:45 p.m. on Aug. 19. "Officers located a 23- year-old male victim with a single gunshot wound to the torso," Joliet police announced. "The victim was transported to AMITA St Joseph Medical Center by the Joliet Fire Department. Preliminary investigation at the scene indicated that the victim was shot during the commission of an armed robbery." Joliet Police Detectives were successful in identifying Young as a suspect, police said. A warrant for Young's arrest was obtained on Aug. 20. On August 26, Young was taken into custody at a house in Algonquin by members of the U.S. Marshall's Great Lakes Regional Task Force.
