Hello! My name is Cary Higgins and I am a second-year in the Music Studies department at UC Santa Barbara offering beginner jazz guitar lessons in the Goleta area. My guitar teaching philosophy is all about equipping musicians with tools to play confidently in a group setting. In other words, I want to teach you how to be absolutely free with your music! You will learn about chords, arpeggios, and melodies, as well as essential pillars of music like rhythm and harmony. But most importantly, you will learn how to use these elements of music to create compelling songs and share musical moments with friends! I have been studying jazz guitar for over 5 years and am excited to share my love and knowledge for the art. I have studied with world renowned jazz guitarist Hristo Vitchev for the past 2 years. We can study jazz if you want - diving into music theory and exploring intricate chord extensions - or we can just learn the most effective method to cover any song you want and jam with other people :) I charge $35 per each one hour lesson, which are available in-person (masked in your home or backyard) or online (via Zoom or Facetime).
