Yoga and Storytelling at Columbus Park Join Sage Gawd Collective and Front Porch Arts Center for The Clearing, a Sunday wellness ritual that incorporates yoga and storytelling to cleanse the soul. The Clearing will take place at Columbus Park, an underused park natural sanctuary on the Westside of Chicago. We aim to inspire the use of nature as a catalyst for intergenerational community building, healing and collective storytelling. Open to all ages. Participants should bring a yoga mat and water. $10 adults, $5 children. The Clearing is a space created by Westsiders, Dushaun Branch Pollard, of Sage Gawd Collective and Keli Stewart, of Front Porch Arts Center. DuShaun Branch Pollard has been practicing yoga for almost 15 years and fell in love with yoga because it allowed her to find peace of mind while moving her body. DuShaun previously worked in higher education, is a trained restorative justice circle keeper and is currently a community organizer in North Lawndale, a community on the west side of Chicago. Keli Stewart is a writer, artivist and educator. She received her BA in Fiction Writing from Columbia College, and her MFA in Poetry from Chicago State University. She is the Founder and Artistic Director of Front Porch Arts Center. er poetry collectin, Small Altars is forthcoming from Bronzeville Books in 2021.
