Description
Serena is a 2-year-old purebred Border Collie who weighs approximately 25 lbs. She has been embark tested that shows genetic testing as well. She is with DPS looking for her forever home after she was surrendered by her owner. Serena is a gentle soul who is seeking a loving family with a low-key lifestyle. Once she trusts you, she’s yours! Though she may start out a little shy, with time and patience, she gets comfortable. This gorgeous girl is all about her people; expect to be adored! Her absolute favorite place is her crate; she feels the safest there and will immediately run in when she enters her foster home. When she first arrived in her foster home, she was easily startled by loud noises, but she has become more relaxed. In the morning, Serena wakes up, heads outside, and eats breakfast before 8 am. To reinforce her housebreaking habits, she is taken out to the backyard every 2-3 hours and walked around the yard with a leash. She is fed dinner around 5 pm and will go down for the night around 10 pm. Since her foster family discovered that she seems to be afraid of the dark, she sleeps w/a small light next to her crate. Serena does not dig in the backyard and rarely barks; what a well-behaved girl! She will occasionally chew any items she may find lying around, so she needs to be supplied with appropriate chew toys. Her foster family has been able to satisfy her need to chew by giving her these during the day. Serena has lived with other dogs. She would thrive in a home with another confident dog but she has also proven she can live by herself. She needs dedicated owners who are excited about continuing her training and giving her all of the love and attention she craves - and deserves! Serena is only an option for homes that have had a dog of their own in the last five years. If there are any children in the home, they need to be over the age eight.
