Welcome back to Founder's Hall!
After more than a year, the museum in Founder's Hall at Girard College is reopening for normal Thursday tour hours.
The museum inside this monumental Greek-inspired building displays Stephen Girard’s personal belongings and Girard College history. Explore the complex life of America’s first multi-millionaire through his uniquely-preserved possessions from Philadelphia and around the world. Delve into the legacy of a school which has fascinated visitors since the 19th century, became the focus of a key civil rights case in the 20th century, and continues to educate financially-disadvantaged youth in the 21st century.
In order to ensure a safe visit for everyone, Girard College has put in place new registration procedures and protocols for campus visitors.
• Please reserve a free tour time slot for your Founder's Hall visit (Please note that Founder's Hall will be closed on August 26 and Sept 2)
• Masks are required for all visitors over age 2
• All campus visitors need to check in with security at the main gate
Parking is available on campus. We are also located on SEPTA Bus Routes 15 & 33 and a 1/2 mile west of the Girard Ave station on the Broad Street subway line.
Founder’s Hall is a historic structure and is wheelchair accessible on the first floor only via a lift on the north side. Stairs are unavoidable to access the museum collections, located on the second floor, but modified first-floor tour presentations are available for groups with advance notice. For wheelchair access to the first floor please contact Kathy Haas, Director of Historical Resources, in advance at [email protected]
