Mental Health First Aid teaches you how to identify, understand, and respond to signs of behavioral health and substance use concerns. This 8-hour training gives people the opportunity to learn how to identify, understand, and respond to others who may be developing and/or experiencing a mental health, behavioral health, and/or substance use concern. Mental Health First Aid training is designed for people who want to be introduced to the common mental health challenges people experience and learn a 5-step action plan for how to help someone in both crisis and non-crisis situations. The course will teach you how to apply the ALGEE action plan: • Assess for risk of suicide or harm • Listen nonjudgmentally • Give reassurance and information • Encourage appropriate professional help • Encourage self-help and other support strategies FAQs Is there a minimum age requirement to attend the training? Participants must be 18 years of age. What should I bring into the event? Beverages and Food WILL NOT be provided as a part of this training. Participants will have 2, 15 minute breaks and a 30 minute lunch break. Please plan to bring your own food and beverages to the training.  Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event? No - You do not need to present ticket on the day of the training Can I update my registration information? Yes, you may update your registration up until the day prior to the training. Is my ticket transferrable? Yes. If you are no longer able to participate, you may cancel or transfer your registration to another participant. Is it ok if the name on my ticket or registration doesn't match the person who attends? Yes. If you are no longer able to participate, you may cancel or transfer your registration to another participant. Will CEUs be available? We are NOT currently offering CEUs to participants.
