Description

Join N4EJ and our partners for a 90-minute bilingual environmental walking tour of the McKinley Park neighborhood. Join Alfredo Romo (N4EJ's Executive Director) and Dany Robles and Colleen Smith from the Illinois Environmental Council on a stroll through the McKinley Park neighborhood and see the daily impacts to our air quality. We'll make a few stops to view the MAT Asphalt plant on Pershing, the truck traffic ringing our neighborhood, and the new Amazon distribution center on Ashland. We'll make a final step by the Stevenson Expressway (I-55) to witness the combined impacts from heavy industry and mobile emissions to residents of the Southwest side of Chicago. You'll also learn about three current air monitoring efforts, see the new air monitors on CTA bus shelters and buildings in the area, and learn how you can see the air quality data in real-time on your phone. This tour is offered in English and Spanish. **This tour is part of a weeklong program sponsored with our partner, Mobilize Creative Collaborative.* Check out the full schedule of events: https://www.mobilizecreative.com/mckinley-park and like our FB event page: https://www.facebook.com/events/863047607964380 Please wear comfortable shoes and bring water since we will be walking the whole time.
