Learn how to create beautiful illuminated manuscript art and bind them into a modern take on the archaic limp vellum binding.
A throw back to what books once were with a modern twist. Co-instructor Hannah Charlton, Spokane's resident illumination artist, will teach students the beauty of creating illuminated art using her original whimsical drawings. Bookbinders Mel Hewitt and Dorian Karahalios will lead students through the construction of a modern binding structure that is reminiscent of medieval limp vellum binding.
Students do not need to have experience with or be good at drawing. Previous bookbinding experience is also not required. This is an excellent entry level workshop.
The class fee includes materials, such paints and ink pens which students will be able to take home. Registration for the class closes midnight October 2nd.
