Field Technician - Courier / Lab Assistant

Silver State Analytical Laboratories - Las Vegas Lab is seeking a full-time team member with ability to serve as courier in sample / equipment pick-up and delivery, field technician duties in sampling and sample control, and laboratory assistant. Customer service skills, clean driving record, and the ability to learn science terminology required. We are an EPA, CDC, and ASTM certified lab testing water, soil, air, construction materials, food and other final products for chemical and microbiological compounds. Description: Major function is to pick-up and drop off sampling and related equipment at client sites. Work consists of technical support and general labor for environmental chemical testing laboratory and equipment supply company. Heavy driving to / from client job sites; prepare chain of custody forms; collect samples and set up sampling equipment; pack and unpack sample coolers and containers; basic lab support. Customer interaction and service required. Use of PC software and data base on a daily basis. Full time position with occasional on-call duty. Other Duties Include: - Receiving and shipping of air, water, and soil samples following strict chain-of-custody procedures; check in and store samples. - Preparation of sample kits and equipment maintenance. - Material stocking, cleaning glassware, and sample disposal. - Data entry, filing and assisting with record keeping including maintenance logs, test data, and order forms. Requirements: - H.S. Diploma or higher. Good math and some science skills or knowledge. - Entry level or some experience in courier services, sciences, field sampling or related helpful. - Excellent driving record and ability to find addresses throughout the Las Vegas area. - Computer skills in data entry, excel, word, outlook, basic calculations. Use of LIMS data base. - Comfortable working in laboratory setting, use of PPE, ability to lift 50 pounds. - Reliable attendance and ability to work independently. - Professional appearance and customer service skills. - Ability to document work and follow strict company / government SOPs. - Attention to detail, work ethic, high production, and reliable completion of assignments is required.
