Description
Hey there, I'm Charlotte. We're rehoming our 3 year old American short hair cat, Clay. He's a gray and white tabby with big, super green eyes and an amazingly affectionate personality. He is a tad shy at first to someone he's never met or in a new environment, but within just a few minutes he warms up to a cuddly, nuzzling, purring mess. He loves to head butt you if you aren't paying him enough attention, and lay on your chest while kneading your neck and purring with his eyes closed happily. Despite being very lean and thin, he is 8-9 pounds depending on the season, and he's fixed. He just sometimes doesn't eat enough because he wants you to pet him first in the morning and gets distracted! 🤦♀️ He's good with other cats. He is mostly frightened by young kids and will hide from them. I have never heard him hiss. He is a largely non-verbal cat, though he will meow occasionally to find you if he's lost in your residence. He's a sensitive soul that is easily spooked or uncertain, but very pliable despite that and never aggressive. We can easily clip his nails and have given him flea baths before, despite him thinking he was going to die and yowling in betrayal. He loves to have his belly rubbed and be petted. He's never had an accident outside of his litter box, although he has missed the litter box by a few inches before when going number 2. 🙈 We are rehoming him due to our second baby on the way. With his discomfort around kids, our toddler plus a baby just wouldn't be fair for his nerves. We also can't pay him as much attention as he wants with the new addition coming and job changes for my husband. We've had him since he was 4 months old and he has only gotten sweeter with age. He has such a personality! Occasionally he gets what we've dubbed the "crazy eye" and gets a sudden longing for the outside or runs around looking manic, and then calms down again to his usual, chill self. He's actually a great hunter and will catch and eat any poor, unsuspecting insect that may wander into his sights. He has soft white paws, and a patch of gray fur on his white chest that's shaped like a heart. So we say that Clay wears his heart on his chest. 💙 If you think you and your home may be a good fit for him, please contact me. We're asking a $40 rehoming fee and can send a litter box and some food to get started, plus a fresh flea treatment if desired.
