WELLESLEY, MA —A former Amazon employee is in custody after police say he stole a delivery van from a Norwood warehouse and led police on a chase through several towns.
Police arrested Cameron Mignon, 23, of Sharon, after the pursuit ended in Wellesley Wednesday night.
At 6:35 p.m. police were notified that a delivery van had been stolen from a Norwood Amazon warehouse. Police were warned to be on the lookout for the van possibly near or on Route 95 northbound in Needham.
Numerous State Police assets, including K-9, Air Wing, and cruisers equipped with tire deflation devices responded to assist.
Police chased the van to Route 9 westbound, where the driver of the van struck a Needham police cruiser and continued to Glen Road in Wellesley where State Police troopers deployed tire deflation devices.
Within several minutes the van turned on to Glenbrook Road, a one-way, and eventually came to a stop.
Police say Mignon was taken into custody at about 7:23 p.m. and was taken to State Police in Framingham for booking.
Mignon is being charged with negligent operation of a motor vehicle, leaving the scene of a property damage crash, and failure to stop for police.
Police say he will likely face additional charges by local police departments as well.
