TAMPA, FL — A 37-year-old woman is in custody after being accused of attempting to rob a bank by threatening to detonate a bomb.
According to Tampa police, at 2:23 a.m. Thursday, Danielle C. DiMari walked into the Bank of America at 100 N. Westshore Blvd. and asked to speak to a manager.
When a manager responded, DiMari played a recording on her cell phone announcing that a bomb had been planted inside the bank and would be detonated if the manager failed to turn over the bank's cash to DiMari.
DiMari produced a device with an exposed wire that appeared to be a detonator.
Instead of turning over money to DiMari, the manager called the police. Officers arrived in minutes and took DiMari into custody in the bank parking lot.
The bank was evacuated and an explosive ordinance disposal team swept the bank but found no bomb.
