Description
NORTH ANDOVER, MA — Stevens Memorial Library in North Andover is currently accepting cards to help show support and gratitude to the brave men and women serving in the U.S. military. Those cards will ultimately be sent in care packages to troops abroad.
"We are asking you to decorate cars that hold respectful messages and gratitude. Please address your card with 'Dear soldier," and sign with your first name," library officials instructed in a Facebook post.
After residents make their card, they can drop them at the library's front lobby.
The library is located at 345 Main St. in North Andover.
In addition to the cards, the library is currently gathering patriotic stones to create a garden outside of its building to honor the lives lost during the 9/11 attacks.
Library staff is asking the public to help create the garden by painting/decorating a rock with patriotic colors and respectful messages. Then place it in the rock garden outside of the Stevens Memorial Library.
"Take a picture of your decorated rock and post it on social media using the hashtag #P351stonegarden," library officials said.
The cards and the stone garden are part of the library's participation in Project 351, a nonprofit organization that allows representatives from each town in Massachusetts to perform service projects.
