Oak Creek Fire Department Wins We Energies Grant

OAK CREEK, WI — We Energies presented a grant to the Oak Creek Fire Department for LED flashlights that can be attached to firefighter gear, a news release from We Energies said. The grant comes as We Energies seeks to help "the brave individuals who work to keep our communities safe every day" with $50,000 in awards. Oak Creek Fire Department is using the grant for flashlights. Flashlights the Oak Creek Fire Department will purchase with the We Energies grant. (Courtesy We Energies)"This is essential for the men and women who are first responders here in Oak Creek," said Oak Creek Mayor Dan Bukiewicz. "It may seem like a small grant, but it could be a lifesaving grant for somebody out there, maybe somebody I know and love."Other departments around the area that have recieved awards will use the funding for gas detectors, a new automated external defibrillator and more, according to the news release. "Each year, this grant is a chance for us to say thank you to our first responders for their tireless efforts to keep our communities safe," said Tom Metcalfe, president — We Energies. "We're proud to support these everyday heroes by providing them the essential tools they need to continue to perform at the highest level."
