Press release from Lynnfield Public Library: Samantha Totman August 27, 2021 This summer has been one of the hottest and most humid on record, and August has been no exception! Below is our list of reads (and watches and listens) that the library staff at Lynnfield have been enjoying to wrap up the season. Enjoy these in your final days at the lake, at the beach, at the pool… Or just in the air conditioning. Alex, Youth Services Rhinos in Nebraska: The Amazing Discovery of the Ashfall Fossil Beds by Alison Pearce Stevens Book Mistborn by Brandon Sanderson Book | eAudiobook Amanda, Youth Services Amari and the Night Brothers by B.B. Alston Book | eBook | CD Audiobook | eAudiobook This is a new top favorite! Men in Black meets Harry Potter and I don't think it gets better than that. Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli Book | eBook | CD Audiobook | eAudiobook I read this book in a day and ate every word up. There's nothing like a good high school romance with an anonymous email crush. Aquicorn Cove by Kay O'Neill Book | eBook A beautiful and soft graphic novel about love, grief, and hope. The Sprite and the Gardener by Joe Whitt and Rii Abrego Book | eBook Whimsical and reminiscent of the Tinkerbell movies, this is a super lovely graphic novel of what was, what is, and what could be. Barbara, Reference The Cellist by Daniel Silva, performed by Edoardo Ballerini Book | Large Print | eBook | CD Audiobook | eAudiobook I choose audiobooks both by the book's author as well as by the reader and Edoardo Ballerini is one of those I enjoy listening to. This book features art restorer and spy, Gabriel Allon, who investigates the death of a Russian killed by a deadly nerve agent. Investigation of this death leads Allon to a group plotting to further divide the American population before the inauguration of the current President. Here, Right Matters: An American Story by Alexander S. Vindman Book Lieutenant Colonel Vindman, now retired from the United States Army, discusses his life as an immigrant to this country, his service on the battlefield, his assignments with United States embassies in Ukraine and Russia, and as a member of the White House's National Security Council under the previous administration. The Reading List by Sara Nisha Adams Book | Large Print | eBook I always enjoy finding a new author I have not read before. This novel explores the importance of reading for two lonely individuals, a recent widower and a young librarian struggling to deal with a reclusive mother. Finding a list of books in a library book, Aleisha shares the list with Mukesh and they begin a journey of sharing their personal experience with each book. The book also deals with a community's experience about the potential closing of their community library. Chris, Circulation The Girls in the Stilt House by Kelly Mustian Book | eBook Fiction set in the Natchez Trace in 1920s Mississippi about Matilda, a sharecropper's daughter planning to head north, and Ada, the daughter of a cruel bootlegger, who share a dangerous and tenuous connection as they both try to escape injustice and find a better life.  Reminded me a bit of of Where the Crawdads Sing. The Paris Library by Janet Skeslien Charles Book | Large Print | eBook | CD Audiobook | eAudiobook Historic fiction about Odile, first as a young woman working at the American Library in Paris during the Second World War in the early 1940s when the Nazis occupied the city, and then as an older woman in Froid, Montana, in the mid-1980s when a local teen becomes curious about Odile's past and begins asking questions. Kat, Head of Circulation Choose Me by Tess Gerristen and Gary Braver Book | Large Print | CD Audiobook Romantic, suspense fiction The Personal Librarian by Maire Benedict Book | Large Print | eBook | CD Audiobook | eAudiobook Biographical Fiction – story of Bella da Costa Greene, J.P. Morgan's Personal Librarian Murders and Metaphors by Amanda Flower Book | Large Print | eBook | eAudiobook This is the third book in the Magical Bookshop cozy mystery series by my favorite author. Kathe, Reference Ottolenghi and the Cakes of Versailles DVD The MET, Versailles and pastry, 3 of my favorite things! This documentary features Yotam Ottolenghi and other world favorite pastry chefs who tell the story of the beautiful, edible, and historical  elements that go into a culinary gala that was held at the MET in 2018 … a feast for the eyes and the creative soul! Lauren, Head of Youth Services The Legend of Auntie Po by Shing Yin Khor Book The Marvelous by Claire Kann Book Nicole, Head of Tech Services A Quiet Place Part II DVD The sequel picks up right where we left the family following the dramatic revelations at the end of the first film. The opening scene sets the tone for the high stakes at the center of the plot and the addition of Cillian Murphy to the cast added a new layer to the story that was interesting to watch. Jump scares abound! Patty, Administrative Assistant All the Little Things by Sarah Lawton eBook Samantha, Circulation Cemetery Boys by Aiden Thomas Book | eBook | eAudiobook This was recommended to me by Alex, one of our Youth Services librarians. All I can say is WOW. I flew through the last 100 pages! Gold Diggers by Sanjena Sathian Book | Large Print | eBook Sathian says so much about the immigrant experience in this book, and the magical realism element is very well done.
