GREENFIELD, WI — A Greenfield man was charged Thursday for the death of his daughter over 30 years ago. Ronald Schroeder, 51, was charged with first-degree reckless homicide and child abuse, court records show. A preliminary hearing was set for Sept. 2. The charges come decades after the Milwaukee County Medical Examiner ruled the death of Catharine, Schroeders daughter, a homicide, Fox 6 Now reported. Catharine's death was originally ruled as shaken baby syndrome and Schroeder has long since been on a list of suspects, Fox 6 reported, but that death has since been ruled a homicide by blunt force trauma. The crime happened at the Briarwick Apartments near 92nd and Howard in Greenfield. There on Aug 25, 1991, Schroeder called 911 to report his daughter was not breathing. She was later pronounced dead. Fox 6 reported court filings say that night's events "fit a pattern" of Schroeder's abuse. Read more details about Schroeder's charges at Fox 6's report.
