FRAMINGHAM, MA — The number of active coronavirus cases in Framingham increased by four over the last week, far fewer than bigger case gains seen weekly since July. Active cases were up to 149 as of Wednesday. By comparison, over the week between Aug. 11 and Aug. 18, Framingham added 45 active cases. Two other key virus metrics also dropped: the number of new daily cases per 100,000 residents over the past two weeks was 11.23, down from 13.38 on Aug. 18; the citywide positive test rate over the past two weeks dropped to 2.37 percent from 2.44 percent on Aug. 18, according to city data. Framingham also passed a key vaccination threshold with now more than 50,000 city residents fully vaccinated, which is about 69.4 percent of the total population. That figure was at 49,710 last week.
