BWD Celebrates Seven Students as Conservation Poster Finalists

Bethpage, NY (August 26, 2021)—The Bethpage Water District (BWD) is proud to honor the seven winners of the District's water conservation poster contest this year. The poster contest is an annual tradition between fourth grade students, the BWD and the Bethpage Union Free School District. It not only is a fun and creative activity for students, but also teaches the importance of Long Island's sole-source aquifer and the necessity of water conservation. "We could not be prouder of the inspiration shown by the students who entered this year's water conservation poster contest," said BWD Commissioner Theresa M. Black. "Their creativity is astounding, and the message of water conservation really shined through. We are truly in good hands with the next generation and their commitment to conserving our most precious natural resource." The winners for the poster contest are as follows: First Place · Elisa Wojnicki, Charles Campagne Elementary Second Place · Jaysun Balladin, Charles Campagne Elementary Third Place · Blake Valente, Kramer Lane Elementary · Elain Casaula, Charles Campagne Elementary · Emma Villani, Charles Campagne Elementary · Sarbesh Srikumar, Charles Campagne Elementary · Shanzay Arif, Charles Campagne Elementary The BWD Board of Commissioners deliberated on the poster submissions and selected the finalists based on design, creativity, and the water conservation message. This year, the District selected one first-place winner, one second-place winner, and had a five-way tie for third-place winner. Each of these seven students will receive a gift bag, which includes a trophy, personalized certificate of participation, coupon for a treatment facility tour and other prizes.
