MANCHESTER, CT — A tattoo studio has emerged in Downtown Manchester under a revised set of zoning regulations. Dragon's Den Tattoo Studio & Art Gallery worked with municipal officials to "change the dated regulation prohibiting these businesses," Manchester economic development officials said. The studio at 637 Main St. has scheduled a grand opening for Sept. 10. The question of tattoo parlors in Manchester's Central Business District was revisited tis summer by local planning officials after a zoning regulation amendment application was been submitted, to revise Art. II, Sec. 15.05 of the Manchester zoning regulations to remove "tattoo parlors" from the list of prohibited uses in the Central Business District. Officials at first did not hint whether a tattoo shop has been proposed for the area but Dragon's Den quickly emerged as the driving force behind the change. Before the review, prohibited uses inside the Central Business District included: No principal or accessory that is detrimental to public welfare by reason of noise, vibration, smoke, dust, fumes or odorCorrectional facilitiesHalfway housesTattoo parlors and/or body piercing studiosPawn ShopsClinics
