Mercer County To Celebrate Olympian Athing Mu With Parade

MERCER COUNTY, NJ — The City of Trenton and all of Mercer County is ready to welcome its daughter and Olympic hero, Athing Mu with a grand parade on Sunday. According to City officials, the parade will be held "rain or shine," since Mu is expected to return home this weekend. After winning gold in the Tokyo Olympics, Mu did not return home, instead went directly to Texas A&M University where she is a freshman. This will be her first visit home after the Olympics. The parade assembly will begin at 1 p.m. at Trenton Central High School on 400 Chambers Street. Beginning at 2 p.m., the procession will make its way along the various Trenton streets before ending at Trenton City Hall. Here's the schedule for the day: The lineup will start on Chambers Street at the corner of Hamilton Avenue Right turn onto Hamilton Avenue Right turn onto Clinton Avenue Left turn onto E. State Street End at City Hall front steps at 319 E. State Street The 19-year-old athlete won the Olympic Gold medal in the women's 800-meter and followed that up with a second Olympic gold medal in the 4x400-meter women's team relay. Since returning from Tokyo, Mu participated in the star-studded Prefontaine Classic held last week, where she won gold in the women's 800-meter race. For more information on the parade, click here.
