Press release from the Howard County Government: 08/26/2021 Howard County Government offices, courts, animal shelter, 50+ centers and the Alpha Ridge Landfill will be closed in observance of the Labor Day holiday on Monday, September 6th HOWARD COUNTY, MD - Howard County Government offices, courts, animal shelter, 50+ centers and the Alpha Ridge Landfill will be closed in observance of the Labor Day holiday on Monday, September 6th. As there will be no Monday curbside trash, recycling, yard trim or food scrap collection on Labor Day, the County's holiday "slide" schedule(link is external) will be in effect for the remainder of the week. While county parks(link is external) and the Roger Carter Community Center (note, the center and pool close early at 5:00 p.m.), will be open on the 6th, the County's Department of Recreation & Parks' Cedar Lane and Schooley Mill Activity Rooms, Gary J. Arthur and North Laurel Community Centers, Kiwanis-Wallas Hall, Meadowbrook Athletic Center, Robinson Nature Center and county historic sites will be closed on Labor Day.  The Regional Transportation Agency (RTA) will operate on a "Sunday" schedule. All parking regulations and fees will be in effect.  The 9-1-1 Center, Police and Fire departments remain staffed 24 hours a day, seven days a week. For emergencies, call 9-1-1. As a reminder, all employees and the public are currently required to wear masks upon entry to county government buildings, and throughout common areas, including elevators, stairwells, and/or meetings with other employees or visitors.
