AUSTIN, TX — The body of a newborn baby was found in a shallow grave in Manchaca on Tuesday, according to the Travis County Sheriff's Office. Deputies said they received a 911 call around 8:30 a.m. about a deceased person in the 11800 block of Old San Antonio Road. A fisherman, who was in the area, accidentally discovered the body of a newborn. Authorities said the child was located in a shallow grave and may have been there several days or possibly a week. An autopsy was conducted on the child Wednesday and final results are pending. Deputies say this incident is being investigated as a suspicious death until the exact cause and manner of death are determined. Officials said they are concerned about the well-being of the mother and is asking anyone who might have information about the incident or identity of the mother to call 911 or the TCSO tip line at 512-854-1444.
