AUSTIN, TX — A 19-year-old man was arrested in connection to a fatal north Austin crash that occurred on Aug. 19, Austin police said Friday.
Moises Balderas-Martinez was arrested Friday and faces a fail to stop and render aid charge. According to Travis County Jail records, Balderas-Martinez' bond has yet to be set.
Around 11:36 p.m. Thursday, police said the victim, who was identified as 29-year-old Jenny Gonzales-Zepeda, was walking across the street and N. Lamar Boulevard and Ken Street to meet a friend.
At the same time, a Nissan driven by Balderas-Martinez struck the woman. Authorities said the 19-year-old continued to drive, leaving the scene of the crash. Gonzalez-Zepeda was later pronounced dead at the scene.
Officials said they later located Balderas-Martinez and he was taken into custody.
