CONCORD, NH — Defending champions Woodcrest Crew won its third co-ed softball championship in four years, beating Solid Rock Builders on Thursday, 13-11.
The teams played a competitive game throughout and were tied for a number of innings. By the fifth inning, the score was 7-7. In the sixth, it was 9-9. During the top of the seventh, Woodcrest (14-4) pulled ahead, scoring four runs. Solid Rock (17-0) came back in the bottom of the seventh, scoring two runs, but ultimately fell short.
In the playoffs, Solid Rock Builders beat Avery Builders (14-4), who placed second in the Blue Division. Woodcrest beat AMH Construction (7-7) for their playoff game for the Green Division.
In the Blue Division, the Area 23 Murder Hornets placed third at 13-5 while Havenwood Heritage Heights were 10-4, Fulling Mill Flyers were 10-8, Capital Area Responders were 6-8, and Summit Computer were 2-16. In the Green Division, Teddy's Tees were 9-9 to place third, The Free Agents were 6-8, Vacman finished the season at 6-11, The Purple Cobras were 6-12, DNR came in at 2-12, and The Batty Bunch were 2-16.
Woodcrest won the championship games in both 2018 and 2019. For 2020, there was an abbreviated season, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and no playoff or final games. For the 2021 season, the 15 teams played between 14 and 18 games. There were five new teams for the 2021 season.
