New Assistant Principal Hired For Churchill Elementary School

OSWEGO, IL — A new assistant principal has been hired for Churchill Elementary School. The Oswego District 308 Board of Education approved Bridget Hankes-Ixpata's appointment at Monday's board meeting. The education professional started her career in 1998 working as a bilingual teacher for reading and math at Hermes Elementary School in Aurora. She then started teaching fourth grade and kindergarten at Clifford Johnson Elementary School in Warrenville in 2000, which is when she also got involved with various committes, including School Improvement Team, Safety Protocol Revision and Social Emotional Learning Committee, according to a news release. "I am excited to be joining SD 308 as an Assistant Principal at Churchill Elementary because the staff, students, and parents have been so welcoming," Hankes-Ixpata said in a statement. "Students are thrilled to be together again at school and on the playground, and the learning environment at Churchill is engaging and inclusive. Everybody belongs! As a new administrator, I feel like Churchill and SD 308 are great places for me to learn and grow, and I am grateful to have the awesome opportunity to serve such a wonderful community." Hankes-Ixpata received a bachelor's degree in English and Hispanic studies from Northwestern University and her master's degree in teaching with certification from Aurora University. She also has a master's in educational leadeership from Aurora University and a bilingual/ESL endorsement from National Louis University. "Ms. Hankes-Ixpata has 21 years of elementary school teaching experience, and she is a collaborative leader who has a positive attitude," Lindsay Allen, director of elementary education, said in a Friday statement. "She is committed to embracing the diversity of our community and recognizes the importance of creating positive relationships with all stakeholders."
