Press release from the City of Mission Viejo: August 26, 2021 The demolition of the east side of the Los Alisos bridge will require closure of the I-5 freeway in both directions between El Toro and Alicia on Saturday, August 28 from 8 pm until 6 am Sunday, August 29, according to the Orange County Transportation Authority.  The nighttime full closure is necessary to allow crews to safely perform work on the bridge as part of the freeway widening project. Northbound motorists will be detoured off the freeway at La Paz and Alicia, while those southbound will be detoured off the freeway at El Toro. Traffic signal timing will be adjusted within the detour corridors to accommodate those diverted off the freeway.
