No Working Smoke Alarms In Levittown House Fire: 2 Hospitalized

BRISTOL TOWNSHIP, PA — A fire at a recovery house in Bristol Township sent two residents to the hospital and left the building uninhabitable, the fire marshal said Thursday. Bristol Township Fire Rescue arrived to the home on the 60 block of Mill Drive to find heavy damage to the home, according to Chief, Fire Marshal, and Emergency Management Director Kevin Dippolito. One of the home's residents made the call upon coming home to find the kitchen on fire, with smoke starting to fill the house and all other residents "still inside unaware." After the resident alerted the others, some escaped out the first and second floor windows. The six-bedroom house, with 15 people living there, had only one smoke alarm. Dippolito said that smoke alarm had no battery in it. Two residents were taken to the hospital. Their condition is unknown currently, Dippolito said. He determined that the fire started due to "unattended cooking on the stovetop," leaving the home "heavily damaged" and "uninhabitable."
