Press release from the City of Elmhurst: August 26, 2021 At a press conference held on August 26, Governor Pritzker announced a mask mandate for all Illinois residents. The mandate requires all individuals over the age of 2 years old, regardless of vaccination status, to wear a face mask in all indoor settings. The masking requirements are effective Monday, August 30th.  At a press conference held on August 26, Governor Pritzker announced a mask mandate for all Illinois residents. The mandate requires all individuals over the age of 2 years old, regardless of vaccination status, to wear a face mask in all indoor settings. The masking requirements are effective Monday, August 30th.    As COVID-19 infection and hospitalization rates across the state continue to increase, the Governor is also requiring that all healthcare workers, including nursing home employees, all pre-k-12 teachers and staff, as well as higher education personnel and students receive the COVID-19 vaccine. Employees in all of these settings and higher education students who are unable or unwilling to receive the vaccine will be required to get tested for COVID-19 at least once per week, and DPH and ISBE may require increased testing in certain situations.   VIEW FULL PRESS RELEASE FROM THE GOVERNOR'S OFFICE HERE   Vaccination is the key to ending the COVID-19 pandemic and returning to normal life. All Illinois residents over the age of 12 are eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccine at no cost and proof of immigration status is not required to receive the vaccine.
