Description
Press release from City of Fremont: August 26, 2021 Caltrans has scheduled to close State Route 84 in both directions from Palomares Road in Fremont to Main Street in Sunol for an entire weekend of September 17-20, 2021 for work on the Alameda Creek Bridge. The closure will last 57 hours, starting at 8:00 pm on Friday night (9/17/21) and ending at 5:00 am on the following Monday morning (9/20/21). Access to pedestrians and bicyclists will also be restricted during this closure. Please note: This closure is not for the Stroll & Roll event this year, which has been cancelled due to COVID-19 concerns. During this closure, the contractor will work around the clock to replace the existing bridge railings on Alameda Creek bridge. The work includes removal of existing barrier rail and concrete, removal of existing overhang, installation of new reinforcement bars followed by concrete pour for the new overhang. Once concrete is cured, k-rail will be placed, and the road will be opened to traffic. Portable changeable message signs (PCMSs) will be placed prior to closure advising motorists of this closure and will stay in effect during full closure. Caltrans thanks motorists and residents for their patience as they work to maintain and improve the Bay Area's highways, bridges and tunnels.
