Here are the top stories today in Toledo: A new program to curb gun violence will be implemented in Toledo next week. A group referred to as "violence interrupters" will be working directly on the streets with no affiliation to the Toledo Police Department. The first target area is Monroe, Collingwood, Belmont, and Hoag streets. (13abc Action News) The YMCA of Greater Toledo at Wolf Creek is hosting a program to give Toledo residents access to free healthy food. The shipments arrive Wednesday and are dispersed Thursday and open to everyone. (WNWO NBC 24) The Toledo-Lucas County Health Department has re-issued a mask advisory for all people regardless of vaccination status. The advisory even suggests wearing a mask in crowded outdoor settings, as the Delta variant is causing Lucas County to surpass the threshold of high community transmission. (13abc Action News) On Friday, Sylvania Schools implemented a mandatory mask mandate for all students, staff, and visitors regardless of vaccination status. The mandate comes as the district sees a rise in positive COVID cases and quarantines. (WNWO NBC 24)A 25-year-old Toledoan was killed in a motorcycle crash on SB I-280 Friday morning. Police say the victim rear ended a cement truck.
