BURR RIDGE, IL — Construction workers got into an argument earlier this month in a Burr Ridge neighborhood, prompting a call to police. Two of them were cited on unrelated charges. Through a public records request, Patch obtained a police report for the incident. It happened about 2 p.m. Aug. 10 in the 7800 block of Drew Avenue. In the report, an officer said he was driving on Drew Avenue when he saw a silver Cadillac pulling away from a house. Several men told the officer that the driver of the Cadillac had threatened them. The officer caught up with the driver, identified as Carlos Huerta, 40. According to the report, Huerta said he worked for Paul Davis Construction and had been working at the Drew Avenue house, but had the day off. He said he picked up his paycheck in Naperville and then went to the house to look for his debit card, where he believed he lost it, police said. Huerta said he asked the homeowner if she had seen the card. They looked for it, but with no success. As Huerta was leaving, he said a fellow employee followed him out the door with a hammer, asking what he was doing there and whether he wanted to fight, according to the report. Huerta said he called the man an "a------," telling police that the two do not get along. Huerta said he also told the man that he would find him in the street, police said. Huerta then got into his car to leave. As Huerta was leaving, he told police that the other man kicked the front passenger side door of the car, police said. One of the other workers, Victor Becerra, 47, told police that Huerta arrived at the house upset, made a fighting gesture at him and said he would beat him up, the report said. Becerra said Huerta ran out of the house, so they followed him because they believed Huera was going to damage their van, police said. The unidentified man said he never kicked Huerta's car, had no words with him and said the altercation was between Huerta and Becerra, police said. The homeowner said Huerta appeared calm and that he was looking for the debit card. The homeowner said she did not witness a fight, police said. Becerra said he did not want to press charges against Huerta. An officer found that Huerta's Illinois driver's license was suspended, police said. He was cited for driving on a suspended license. Becerra was found to have a warrant for failure to appear in DuPage County Court, police said. He was arrested, then later released on bond.
