Happy Saturday, Duluth! Here are the most important things happening in Duluth today. First, today's weather: Humid and partly cloudy throughout the day. High: 89 Low: 71. Here are the top stories today in Duluth: Gwinnett County police report that one month ago a gunman in Peachtree Corners followed his victim from a gas station and robbed him in the middle of the road. The gunman has been suspected to have taken about $9,000 in personal belongings. The Gwinnett Police Department is asking that if you have any information about this crime, reach out to the non-emergency line. (WSB Atlanta) Gwinnett County District Attorney has reviewed all of the evidence, and will not be charging or arresting the correctional officer that hit an inmate at Phillips State Prison. The incident was caught on camera and has been decided that the officer was working within the use of force guidelines laid out for correctional officers. (FOX 5 Atlanta) As a result of continuing supply chain shortages, the lunches at Gwinnett County Public Schools have been severely affected. While the district has put out a statement saying that the lunches will vary from school to school, local students are continuing to leave school hungry while also contacting their parents to drop some food off for them at school.(WSBTV) Gwinnett YMCA's are offering afterschool care spots at both the Lawrenceville and the Peachtree Corners location. This will be available for students in Duluth. The program is changing a little bit this year, with the focus to close the gap from learning lost from online classes. The Y will be adding a learning specialist at certain locations to aid with this. Contact your local YMCA for more information. (Atlanta Journal Constitution) There is a paywall on this link. Gwinnett police have teamed up with local non-profit, The Youth Group, to clean up graffiti around the county in order to combat the amount of gangs our county has. The partnership has already completed two painting projects around the county.
