WORCESTER, MA — A Millbury woman who has been charged in connection to the kidnapping of a 4-day-old baby in Worcester will be held without bail following a court hearing Friday.
Kassidy Lauziere-Cuevas, 19, appeared for a dangerous hearing at Worcester Superior Court, where prosecutors said she had for months planned the kidnapping, according to MassLive. Lauziere-Cuevas may also be evaluated by a psychologist, and her attorney has said she suffers from mental illness, the site reported.
According to police, Lauziere-Cuevas met with a Facebook acquaintance and her infant last Saturday for coffee. While the woman was inside a gas station store, Lauziere-Cuevas took the woman's infant and drove off, police said.
The mother was able to flag down a Holy Cross police officer, and before long police around the region were searching for the infant and Lauziere-Cuevas.
The child was found around noon at a Subway along Lincoln Street in Worcester. Lauziere-Cuevas was found nearby at a Wendy's and was arrested on charges of kidnapping and reckless endangerment of a child. An accomplice, Daquan Jefferson, 23, of Worcester, was arrested with her on the same charges.
