ATLANTA — It's "Morphin Time" for Power Rangers nostalgia heads.
Fans of the many iterations of the popular kids and tweens show and movies can geek out this weekend at "Power Rangerstop & Pop Con" in Buckhead.
Meet many of the stars who played either one of the red, blue, pink, yellow, green or black rangers, get socially distant celebrity photos, cosplay, attend panels, participate in games, shop for PW swag or just people watch.
The Mighty Morphin Power Rangers began in 1993 as an American superhero spinoff of the Japanese tokusatsu TV series Super Sentai. It featured a team of teens trained in various forms of martial arts who dressed in colorful uniforms, battled super villains, and drove radical vehicles that merged into a giant robot to fight monsters.
The campy show morphed into a pop culture sensation, spawning generation after generation of martial-arts fighting teams and merchandise-hungry young fans giving their support.
And because of the rise in COVID-19 infections, the convention has established protocols to keep all attendants, volunteers, celebrities, panelists and staff safe.
The convention kicks off Friday at 5 p.m., at the Westin Buckhead Atlanta, and goes through Sunday afternoon.
