Description
Hello! I am a guitarist/audio engineer and am seeking musicians to form a latin band for weddings and events. This band is also intended to cover pop music, such as top40 songs. There is a BIG demand for live performance right now, and especially so in the Latino and Hispanic communities. To this end, I have the following roles to fill:
1. Bass
2. Keyboard
3. Singer(s) - must be able to sing well in Spanish and/or English
4. Conga/alternative percussion (i.e. not drum set)
Drummers will not be needed as I already have a drummer.
The purpose of this band is to make side money doing what we musicians love to do - play music. This is not an ego circle jerk band, it's a team-oriented effort in which we are service providers who cater to the needs of the people who hire us. Consequently, respondents should have the following qualities:
- easy-going, cooperative, committed, open-minded
- capable of improvising on their instrument(s), change key as needed, and to play complex rhythms typical of latin music
- have their own gear and car, be available, and be able to attend rehearsals as needed
I'm not looking to be a technically perfect band as much as I'm looking to deliver an excellent experience for an audience. That means being able to play to enhance or match the vibe/feel of the song, and NOT to shred or show off your technical abilities (although there are times when it's appropriate to do so - it's just not really the priority here).
I'm open to developing original music at some point in the future, so singer-songwriters are welcome additions.
In terms of gear, we have a QSC PA system, a mixer, cables, and microphones, in addition to our own instruments.
Please respond with some samples of you playing, if you have any, with "latin band - [your instrument]" in the subject line. Looking forward to hearing form you!
Spanish-speaking a plus, but not totally necessary.
Thanks,
J
