Job Summary: Performs work of considerable difficulty assisting in the maintenance, operation, and management activities of an assigned Executive, Regulation, or Multi-Course. Assists in planning, budgeting, scheduling, and overseeing maintenance activities of the course assigned. Answers questions and complaints from golfers and informs Superintendent of problems and potential problems. Duties and Responsibilities • Participates in the setting of work priorities and determination of work projects to be conducted on a day-to-day basis. • Assists in the determination of equipment, materials, and personnel needed for specific projects. • Assigns tasks to employees and gives instruction in proper work methods. • Reviews work while in progress and upon completion to ensure compliance with instructions. • Coordinates the work of temporary employees. • Assists in the work of crews primarily through performance of the more difficult tasks or in the demonstration of proper work technique. • Conducts periodic inspections of golf course grounds and facilities to locate malfunctioning equipment and areas in need of attention. • Participates in the repair of irrigation systems. • Mixes and applies the application of herbicides, pesticides, and fungicides. • Assures adequate safety precautions are observed. • Assists in the determination of manpower and budgetary needs and makes related recommendations. • May act as Golf Course Superintendent during his/her absence. • Works with golf course employees in the maintenance of course adherence to established standards. • Participates in supervising the cleaning, maintenance, and repair of golf course equipment, building, and tools. • May assist employee in performing more complex duties involved in turf maintenance. • Participates in maintenance and grounds keeping duties as required. • Trains employees in the correct, safe, and proper operation of golf course maintenance equipment. • Performs follow-up and continuous training.
