Mahogany Bay Farm's After School Riding Academy runs every other Tuesday (9/7-11/ 16) from 3:30pm-5:30pm for K-8th graders who love horses! The Riding Academy is a drop-off class designed for young horse enthusiasts who divide their time between riding lessons in the ring and horsemanship lessons in the barn. Mahogany Bay Farm believes that kids learn by doing so we give "hands-on" experience with the horses. After school riders learn to groom and tack-up our well-schooled horses and ponies, along with the basics of horse care and proper horse safety. Riding lessons are focused on rider position and control of the horse through various exercises to allow riders to hone these skills. If the weather is not favorable to ride in, groundwork and horse agility lessons will be taught in the barn instead. Either way, your child will leave the barn smiling from ear to ear with new horse adventures to share with you! What to Wear: Jeans, leggings or riding jodhpurs and a boot with a heel. Please have your child bring a water bottle and dress for the Maine weather. We will provide certified riding helmets.
