Dinner & Conversation - how can Christians move towards cross-cultural love by pursuing a "third way," eschewing unnecessary polarization.
You are invited to witness a Story Table conversation hosted by the Institute for Cross-Cultural Mission on Friday, September 10th, 2021 from 6-9pm at St. Stephen and the Incarnation Episcopal Church's Sanctuary.
The Story Table medium is an innovative dialogue format pioneered by Fuller Theological Seminary's Fuller Studio; they describe it in this way, "The Story Table takes a theme... and brings it to life at everyone’s favorite conversation place-the dinner table. People who embody the theme in unique ways tell their stories around the table, and members of the community are invited to listen in."
Our theme is "third ways." How can Christians walk in salt and light but not fall prey to black and white thinking? What does faithful discipleship look like in a way that is not legalistic and eschews a sacred/secular theological fallacy? How do we navigate an increasingly polarized society with grace and nuance? What does it look like to afford people dignity and respect amidst disagreement? Christian civility and witness? Our storytellers are pastors from a variety of backgrounds who will be discussing their experiences and you are invited to listen in. Dinner will be provided.
To help cover the costs of this event, we ask attendees to consider making a donation to the Institute. Thank you!
Please note that space is limited so please RSVP soon if you intend to be a guest. Each invitee is permitted one additional guest. Please indicate this in your RSVP.
