Bernie legally immigrated from Colombia to the United States of America with his mother and six siblings just before his fifth birthday. The Moreno family came to America for the opportunities this country offers to all those who live within its borders. Bernie began his career as an intern for General Motors at the Saturn Corporation in 1987. In 1993, he was offered a job at a well-respected car dealership conglomerate in New England despite never working in a dealership capacity. Bernie left the company as Vice President in 2005. A call came in 2005 with the offer to purchase a severely underperforming Mercedes Benz dealership. Bernie sold everything he owned, borrower the college tuition for his sister's children, and his mother mortgaged her house. Bernie purchased that dealership and in the first year it was revenue positive. Bernie and the Moreno family never looked back. In 10 years, the Bernie Moreno Companies expanded to 15 buildings, 30 brands, four states and hired nearly a thousand Ohioans. Bernie Moreno sold most of his car dealerships in 2019. That year, he launched a technology start-up called Ownum with the mission to digitize paper processes such as car titles to improve government efficiency. In America, we take democracy for granted, but countries where socialism takes root quickly enter a death spiral and their citizens live under constant threat of siege by the government. We cannot allow this to happen to America. Bernie Moreno resides in Westlake with his wife of 32 years, Bridget. Together they have four children and one grandchild.
