Lecture - Hispanic Heritage & Indigenous Heritage Event
Guest speaker Alexandra McNichols-Torroledo a Colombian and American journalist and photographer is working with indigenous communities native to North and South America. She's supported and empowered their communities with projects and address their needs. Indigenous groups are defending their traditional territories from mega-projects imposed on their land, that are destroying the planet and their cultures. She has worked with Lakota fight against the Dakota Access Pipeline and Brazil encountered the Mura Indigenous people and their actions to protect the Amazon rainforest deforestation from illegal loggers and cattle ranchers. She will discuss her work and showcase photos of her journalism.
