She then earned her Associate Degree from Western Nevada Community College and a Bachelor’s degree from Liberty University. Lori’s 26-year career path began in the mail room at the Department of Taxation at the age of 17. She was a lobbyist and the Budget Director/Taxation Specialist for the Nevada Association of Counties and provided financial planning assistance for several Counties. She was a Tax Administrator for the Department of Motor Vehicle and Public Safety, a Management Analyst for Child and Family Services, a Budget Analyst for the Governor’s Office and Deputy Director of the Department of Corrections. Upon her retirement, she became a business owner and entrepreneur. As a local small business owner, she understands the challenges facing the business community. Her government and private sector experience give her a unique set of skills to successfully fulfill the position of Mayor. Lori has served five and half years on the Board of Supervisory representing Ward 3. She is known for her budget expertise, attention to detail on contracts, her compassion for those in need and most of all her ability to work with others for the mutual benefit of the community. She successfully advocated to increase the City Ending Fund Balance (Savings Account) by double over the last five years and the creation of an account to require long term maintenance of city assets. She has worked with other Board members to establish transportation districts in the City. She wanted each area of town to receive an opportunity for road repairs. Her unparalleled commitment to help others was demonstrated by her passion in establishing a capital campaign for a local non- profit. This successful campaign provided the necessary funds to ensure the ongoing success of the organization and enabled them to expand vital services to Carson City residents. Lori was instrumental in establishing Richards Crossing. A 39-bed housing project for those in need with priority placement for Veterans. She was the successful co-chair of the fundraising committee to furnish all the units so the homeless in our community would have furniture in their new homes. Lori has gained a reputation for problem solving through collaboration. She is known for her expertise in budgeting with a thorough knowledge of financials. Her drive for success is measured by helping others achieve their goals. Lori along with her husband Jim enjoys their three children, seven grandchildren, four great grandchildren and two dogs.
